Celebrate Arbor Day - 04.30.21

Plant a Tree for You and Me

Written by SurfWriter Girls Sunny Magdaug and Patti Kishel

While we're all basking in the glow of Earth Day there's a special way to honor Mother Earth that dates all the way back to April 10,1872 – the very first Arbor Day

Launched in Nebraska, prizes were given to individuals and counties in the state who planted the most trees. By the end of the day more than a million trees were planted!

Spreading across the nation and to countries around the world, in 1907 President Theodore Roosevelt proclaimed Arbor Day a national holiday to be celebrated on the last Friday in April.

Planting a tree is not only a gift to the planet, but to ourselves and future generations.

Trees provide beauty and shade. Natural habitat for wildlife. Food and medicines. Filter our air and guard against soil erosion.
