an enjoyable 4th of July – a time to celebrate and give thanks for
our freedoms on the Nation’s Independence Day.
Surfrider’s
Huntington/Seal Beach Chapter started the festivities a
day early with the July 3rd The
Big Bang on the Bay event hosted by Mike
Balchin at his River’s End Café.
Balchin invited Surfrider members and supporters, family
and friends for a private party with Nathan's hot dogs, tri-tip steak, Tony
Soriano’s killer chili...
potato salad, cherry cobbler, and more, along with a front row seat on the Los Alamitos Bay fireworks show.

Everyone tried to guess the secret ingredients in Tony’s
chili.
Mike’s long-time buddy Bob Thornburg kept the grill going.
There was lots of talking…
and laughter…
Children playing…
and everyone waiting for the show to start.
The sun didn’t disappoint in providing a dazzling sunset…
and then the fireworks began.
All in all, it was the perfect preface to the 4th of July.
