Written by SurfWriter Girls Sunny Magdaug and Patti Kishel
Cowabunga! Get ready
to celebrate the Summer Solstice…
and that perfect
summer sport – surfing!
Surfrider Foundation members and surfing enthusiasts around the globe will be out in force on June 17, 2023, to ride the waves and celebrate the sport of Hawaiian Kings on International Surfing Day.
Established in 2005
by the Surfrider Foundation and Surfing Magazine, International Surfing Day is
a day to honor surfing, enjoy the beach, catch some waves, and bring people
together.
Surfrider's North
Orange County chapter has a jam-packed day planned at the Huntington
Beach Pier with beach cleanups, paddle outs, surfing lessons, environmental
education activities, and more.
Plus, this
season's Rip Curl GromSearch surfing competition series for
kids 16 and under, will be underway at the HB Pier June 17 -18.
So, wherever you are, head to your local beach for some surfing action...and even a chance to cheer on the next generation of surfers!
